Strange Cake Boy in Chinatown by Chris Leavens

By Chris Leavens

I took this photo about a month ago in Chinatown, just north of downtown Los Angeles. It's a big rotating sign above a cake shop. The bluish-gray background is the sky.

bravo. phoenix bakery, home of the neverending white cake with strawberry filling. this photo looks hand drawn.

I wonder what's in the box. My guess is rice candy filled with vodka. Such a bad little boy.

I've seen the inside of the box and I know what's in there: nothing, absolutely nothing! You should have chosen the red snapper (very tasty).

Wow, an UHF reference. This truly is my place in the world.

It is not the cake that is strange.
